Alabama Department of Transportation

The Alabama Department of Transportation, one of Alabama’s largest state agencies, is responsible for 11,000 miles of roadway and over 5,700 bridges that make up Alabama’s state, U.S. and interstate highway system. ALDOT employs over 4,700 workers in division and district offices positioned across Alabama and administrative offices in Montgomery.


ALDOT’s mission is to provide a safe, efficient, environmentally-sound transportation system for all users, especially the taxpayers of Alabama. ALDOT also facilitates economic and social development and prosperity through the efficient movement of people and goods, and by facilitating intermodal connections within Alabama.
