Wave Transit System
Transit Management of Mobile (doing business as) The Wave Transit System (The Wave) is the public transportation provider for the City of Mobile Alabama. It is the mission of The Wave “To excel in the provision of safe, reliable, cost-efficient and market-focused public transportation that supports the social, economic and environmental goals of the customers and community we serve". The Wave currently employs over 140 individuals.
The Wave provides public transportation service to approximately one million riders annually covering an average of 115,000 revenue miles. The Wave is composed of two (2) public transportation services; 1).Fixed Route and 2). Brokered transportation. The fixed route service consist of (14) fourteen routes operating Monday through Saturday from 5:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.

The Brokered Transportation service (also know as the Mobility Assistance Program- M.A.P.) is an on-demand service that allows eligible clients to make reservation to be picked up and taken to their various appointment. Hours of operation are the same as the Fixed Route service 5:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.
Since 2007 The Wave has made great strides in transit enhancements to include:
- Design and painting of 16’x 40’mural for the GM&O Transportation Center
- Installation of thirty-four (34) new bus shelters
- Construction of a 25’x 6’ bus shelter in Historic Downtown Mobile
- Purchase of eight (8) 29’ Gillig buses and two (2) 35’ Gillig buses.
